From its humble beginnings in Kankakee IL in 1940, Dairy Queen® has grown into one of the largest food systems in the world. The DQ® system encompasses over 5900 restaurants in the US, Canada and over 20 foreign countries.

In 1977 Interstate Dairy Queen Corporation (IDQC), a privately held corporation, purchased the perpetual and exclusive rights from American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ) to sub-license restaurants along many interstate highways throughout the United States. We currently have more than 130 franchised restaurants along interstate highways in 19 states throughout the United States. See our exclusive territories

Interstate Dairy Queen Corporation offers several of the Dairy Queen® concepts, each encompassing the entire DQ® line of world-renowned frozen treats. Food options include DQ Grill & Chill®, which features the full DQ ® line of hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken products, as well as a limited-food menu, which focuses on all-beef hot dogs. With over 30 years of experience in developing co-branded units, we understand the unique needs of the highway traveler. Many of our restaurants are units within fuel centers and convenience stores. We also develop free-standing restaurants, as well as within malls and strip centers. Design options are available to accommodate most layouts.
